Before discussing
audio formats in particular and audio media in general lets examine the
hearing-listening process itself and development of listening skills. Hearing
and listening are not the same thing, although they are, of course, interrelated. At the risk of
oversimplification, we might say that hearing is a physiological process, where
as listening a psychological process. Physiologically, hearing is a process in
which sound waves entering outer ear are transmitted to the eardrum, converted,
into mechanical vibrations in the middle ear, and change in the inner ear into
electrical impulses that travel to brain . the psychological process of
listening begins with someone’s awareness of and attention to sounds or speech
patterns (receiving), proceeds trough identification and recognition of
specific auditory signals (decoding), and ends in comprehension
(understanding).
Transmission and reception might be
inhibited by a number of obstacles.
First, the volume of the sound might be too low or too high. Second, a
sound that is sustained monotonously, such us the droning voice of a teacher,
might trigger auditory. Third, an individual’s ability to hear maybe physically
impaired.
Technology
has come to the aid of speed impaired students and teachers. These include
those who have had surgery on or hear their vocal cords or who have been
affected by cerebral palsy. Audiotapes can be prepared by students to use in
presentations to the class. Students can prepare the tapes with special sound
effects or elements of music to enhance a portion of their speech. Audiotapes
are a excellent way in which to record student speaking and reading-aloud
skills for a portofolio. The student can prepare specific passages or read
certain materials to add to a taped collection to demonstrate progress.
Students
can use cassette tapes for gathering oral histories and preparing oral book
reports. Teacher can be prepare tapes for use in direct interactions, for
example, a vocational-technical school instructor can create audiotapes with
directions for students to follow, skills practice, such us pronunciation of a
foreign language, can also be provided by audiocassette.
Using
audio files in multimedia
One
way to enhance multimedia files such as PowerPoint (see Chapter 10) or HyperStudio (see Chapter
6) is to add audio flies. Using audio within a multimedia presentation can
enhance the interest or focus of the topic being presented. In addition, audio
files can compensate for possible reacting or learning problems that students
might have. For example, when doing a presentation of great composers, a
teacher can add short samples of the composers’ work by inserting a link to an
audio file stored on the hard drive. This can provide the students with a
better understanding of that particular piece of music. Or, a HypcrStudio stack
designed for readers can be used by non-readers with the addition of
teacher-prepared scripts that actually read the text to the student using
software such as Blabbermounth.
Using
the ASSURE mode for Audio
Analyze Learners, Lesson
development begins by identifying your students’ unique attributes and learning
characteristics. You also will to determine their various levels of experience
with using audio.
State Objectives, Before
stating specific objectives, you may wish to explore how to use audio in
support of student learning. Sometimes it is more appropriate to state specific
objectives after you have identified the direction you will take with the
content and what materials you will use.
Select Methods, Media,
and Materials, Use the information on audio discussed in this chapter as the
basis for selecting, modifying, or designing your materials. Adjust the
specific applications to suit the specific nature of your topic and objectives.
Utilize Media and
Materials, Follow the suggestions discussed in this chapter to facilitate your
students’ learning, modifying each of the materials you USe to fit your needs,
The audio equipment and source materials you have access to, as well as its
location, will determine how you schedule your students’ learning experiences, as
discussed in the chapter.
Require Learner
Participation, Introduce and explain the audio involved in your specific
objective.
Evaluate and Revise, It
is important to consider how materials that rely on audio help students to
interpret information.
Question
:
1.
What is the hearing-listening
process?
2.
What do you know about speech
impaired students and teachers?
3. How to use the ASSURE mode for Audio in learning process?

Good Morning.
Thanks, I am Nur Ayu Puspita Sari Sukri
I am goin’ to answer the first question.
Hearing and listening are not the same thing. Hearing is a physiological process, where as listening is a psychological process. In the course of hearing, sound waves enter the auditory canal and strike the eardrum, causing it to vibrate. The sound waves are concentrated by passing from a relatively large area (the eardrum) through the ossicles to a relatively small opening leading to the inner ear. in the other side listening as the process of receiving, attending, and understanding auditory messages that is messages transmitted through the medium of sound. Often, the steps of responding and remembering are also included. Thanks.

I totally agree to what the presenters cited in the first paragraph about the definition of hearing and listening.
Almost 45% of our time that we have is used for listening. In Indonesian language, we may often mix the meaning between listening and hearing which both of them have the same meaning as "mendengarkan" . But there is a difference between both.
As the presenter stated in text above, Hearing is a physiological process where the sound is captured by the ear and transmitted to the brain. While listening is psychological process which involves understanding and interpretation of the sensory . In listening, we also need to concentrate consequently, the brain can process words and sentences that have entered the brain. Listening is necessary in interpersonal communication to turn effective. But most people find it harder to do listening than hearing.
These are the Listening's process that I got from the other source:
1. Receive of stimulus
2. Select of stimulus.
3. Interpret of stimulus
4. Understand the message
5. Evaluate
6. Resolve
#Thanks

I'M FROM PBI 4
And I am going to answer number 1 and I think the answer is quite clear in the 6th group's argument about the hearing - listening process. hearing is a physiological process, besides listening a psychological process. Physiologically, hearing is a process in which sound waves entering outer ear are transmitted to the eardrum, converted, into mechanical vibrations in the middle ear, and change in the inner ear into electrical impulses that travel to brain . the psychological process of listening begins with someone’s awareness of and attention to sounds or what the people say. And I can add the answer the I have got by myself about hearing and listening that 's the listening is one step ahead of the hearing. The hearing is simply the ability to hear, i.e. natural or God-given however, listening is an acquired skill, which only a few people possess. While the hearing is involuntary and performed effortlessly, listening is done intentionally, wherein we are selective and pay attention to only those messages, we think important for us.
But I would like to ask for the 6th group why did u make a question and the question we can answer it by looking at your own argument ?

Thank you , thats a great explanation above.. After read the passage i know that Hearing and listening is a different thing, that actualy, we use in the real situation thats a same thing. So i dicided to answer the first question its aobout hearing-listening process..
Well, based on the expalanation I obtain that
Hearing : Physiological
Listening : Psychological
Hearing is the physical aspect of your body to reciving sounds, you may hear these words as a part of a conversation ".... So i recommend slling..." and yet have no idea what it is you are meant to sl. Hearing is only the first part of listening.
Listening is a pyshological process of reciving attnding to constructing meaning form. And responding to spoken or nonverbal message.
From the explanation above I can Conclued that Hearing-Listening process is process to require sounds and information and you make effort to construct the intantion from the text or speech.
Thanks..
What do u mean fadly ? But I think the definition both of them are correct. Based on the argument hearing is just the process sound travel to our brain but listening we need to have awareness or pay attention what the sound or the speech it is.

Thank you fadli , but I still confused about your last sentence it is Resolve .. Why you say there is Resolve in process of listening.. And I think After evaluating we put Responding .. Could you please give me brighly??;😇
Happy Monday :)
Well, I am Femy Rahmadani from PBI 3..
i will try to answer question 1 "What is the hearing-listening process ?"
I agree with sister Tri wulandari that hearing-listening process is process to require sounds and information and make effort to construct the intantion from the text or speech.
Based on the literature that i have read before in www.yaulei.com , the are four stages of the hearing‐listening process as well as factors which may inhibit audio communication, they are: encoding, hearing, listening, and decoding. In the encoding stage the message needs to be clear and logical in order for the receiver to understand it. There is a loss in communication if the sender cannot express their idea. In the hearing stage the physiological process occurs and sound waves are transmitted. Some factors that may inhibit audio at this stage would be volume, auditory fatigue or some type of hearing impairments. The next stage is the listening stage where the physiological process of listening occurs. This includes someone’s consciousness and attention to what is being said. Communication losses can occur at this stage of the process if the receiver is not paying attention or aware of what is being said (lacking listening skills). Lastly is the decoding stage where the receiver’s understanding of the message will reflect their ability to comprehend the message expressed. Therefore, if comprehension does not occur, then losses in communication will occur.
That's from me..
Thank you :)
Okay thanks for your nice answer mr ridwan. This is a nice explanation and about your question why the presenter make question and the question you can answer it by lookibg at the argument because that is as escort for us before you answer the question. When you looking at the argument maybe you can imagine about that, And this activity is discussion so we have to have firts argument before we discuss each other.

Good morning Ayu
Based on your explanation above i obtain that listening as a process of receiving, attending and understanding the message. Is there a process again or just three?? And could you give me explanation about what is attending??Thanks

well, I'll answer questions about number 2. What I know about speech impairment is someone who is not able to speak well, including disorders or abnormalities in pronunciation/articulation, speech is not smooth, his voice is disturbed, making it difficult to communicate with others.
For example;, stammer, lisp, cleft lip,has big voice but the pronunciation is not clear.
Effort that teachers may be able to do to deliver lessons:
A.speak clearly with correct pronunciation.
B.using simple and short sentences
C.using lip or hand gestures
D.using pens and papers to convey messages
E.use sign language.
Thanks :*

In today's article about "AUDIO", let me answer the 1st question "What is the hearing-listening process?".
Based on the source of article in http://keydifferences.com/difference-between-hearing-and-listening.html.
Well, I'd like to cover my answer into three points:
Firstly by explaining about the definition, secondly by talking about the differencess, and finally by examining the conclusion.
Okay, so I'd like to start by looking at the definition. Hearing is defined as natural ability or an inborn trait that allows us to recognize sound through ears by catching vibrations. It is an involuntary process, whereby a person receives sound vibrations, continuously. Listening is defined as the learned skill, in which we can receive sounds through ears, and transform them into meaningful messages. To put simply, it is the process of diligently hearing and interpreting the meaning of words and sentences spoken by the speaker, during the conversation.
Next, I'm continue by looking the following points about the difference between hearing and listening:
1. An individual’s ability to perceive sounds, by receiving vibrations through ears, is called the hearing. Listening is something done consciously, that involve the analysis and understanding of the sounds you hear.
2. The hearing is the primary and continuous in nature, i.e. the first and foremost stage is hearing, followed by listening and it occurs continuously. On the other hand, listening is temporary, as we cannot continuously pay attention to something for long hours.
3. While hearing is a passive bodily process that does not the involve use of the brain. As opposed to listening, it is an active mental process, which involves the use of brain to draw meaning from words and sentences.
Finally, I bring you to summarise the main points of my answer above that it is quite clear that listening is one step ahead of the hearing. The hearing is simply the ability to hear, i.e. natural or God-given however, listening is an acquired skill, which only a few people possess. While the hearing is involuntary and performed effortlessly, listening is done intentionally, wherein we are selective and pay attention to only those messages, we think important for us.
Well, that's all from me. Thankyou very much.
Thank you femy for your answer, I am nurfika ariapatri from the 6th group. And i Will try to answer wulan's question that is that hearing is a unconcious? In my point of you, according artikel that i was read in www.n cbi.nlm.nih.gov. , it Say that hearing can be an unconcious because Attentional modulation of normal sensory processing has a two-fold impact on human brain activity: activation of a network of localized brain regions is associated with paying attention, and activation of specific sensory regions is enhanced relative to passive stimulation. The mechanisms underlying attentional modulation of perception in patients with lesions of sensory cortices are less well understood. Here we report a unique patient suffering from extensive bilateral destruction of the auditory cortices (including the primary auditory fields) who demonstrated conscious perception of the onset and offset of sounds only when selectively attending to the auditory modality. This is the first description of such an attentively modulated 'deaf-hearing' phenomenon and its neural correlates, using H(2)(15)O-PET. Increases in cerebral blood flow associated with conscious awareness of sound that was achieved by listening attentively (compared with identical auditory stimulation presented when the patient was inattentive) were found bilaterally in the lateral (pre)frontal cortices, the spared middle temporal cortices and the cerebellar hemispheres. We conclude that conscious awareness of sounds may be achieved in the absence of the primary auditory cortex, and that selective, 'top-down' attention, associated with prefrontal systems, exerts a crucial modulatory effect on auditory perception within the remaining auditory system. Thank you.
Actually the purpose of our activity here is u find the answer of the question.. and if u cannot find the answer just looking for other reference.. 😆
Okay in point of view in the last semester some of our lecturer ever that listening is how we get the meaning. And when we talk about the main factor both of listening and hearing be a same thing perhaps is about the culture of language in indonesia and english is different. We can see for example in indonesia general all of people always use "mendengarkan" is about listening or hearing something but in english "hearing" is we just hear but not get the point and "listening" is we understand the point. Thats for me

Thank you Fika for help me to answer Wulan's question.. i think it's very helpfull :), i conclude that hearing can be an unconcious because attentional modulation of normal sensory processing has a two-fold impact on human brain activity..but i want to ask Wulan... Is it clear ?
To ms. Femy that a great and long explanation. And to ms. Wulan about your question that may we say that hearing is unconcious process ? Okay I will try to answer your question. In my point of view I will give u case study : for example you stay in front of the class and you talk with ur friend and unconcious you hear the conversatation in the classroom. That is the study case based on ur question thats from me

Thanks For the material. I will answer the first question about the hearing and listening process.
Hearing and listening are not the same thing, although they are, of course, interrelated. The point :
1. Hearing is the activity of capturing sound, either the sounds of language and non-language. Hearing done inadvertently by humans.
2. Listening is a kind of activity capture the sound that is made in earnest. In other words, listening is done intentionally.

Hearing process, or auditory perception, is the ability to perceive sound by detecting vibrations, changes in the pressure of the surrounding medium through time, through an organ such as the ear.
Listening process is a broad term used to refer to complex affective, cognitive, and behavioral processes. Affective processes include the motivation to attend to others; cognitive processes include attending to, understanding, receiving, and interpreting content and relational messages; and behavioural processes include responding with verbal and nonverbal feedback.
Okay what a great explanation and good answer from ms. Adel..
Thanks sis about your great explanation ..
From your explanation I got the point that the main factor why many learner don't differed hearing and listening because of different culture.. Any addition!!

Thanks for the material from group 6th, i will answer question number 1 that " what is hearing-listening process ?".
Hearing and listening have quite different meanings. Hearing is a passive occurrence that requires no effort. Listening on the other hand, is a conscious choice that demands your attention and concentration. So from the definition above you can hear someone speak without listening to the words. Hearing defines only the physical measurement of the sound waves that are transmitted to the ear and into the brain where they are processed into audible information. Hearing occurs with or without your consent. While,
Listening is defined as the learned skill, in which we can receive sounds through ears, and transform them into meaningful messages. To put simply, it is the process of diligently hearing and interpreting the meaning of words and sentences spoken by the speaker, during the conversation.
Listening is a bit difficult, because it requires concentration and attention, and the human mind is easily distracted.

I want to answer for the first question.
Someone rightly said, “Hearing is through ears, but listening is through the mind.” The two activities hearing and listening involve the use of ears, but they are different. Hearing is when you experience the sound waves and noise by ears, but listening is when you receive the sound waves and understand it by paying full attention to the words and sentences of the speaker. For many people, these two activities are one, but the truth is, the difference between hearing and listening is vital. so have a glance at this article to understand the terms completely.
My name is Nurjannah.
In this opportunity, I would like to answer the third question about how to use the ASSURE model for audio in learning process.
According to the journal that I have read before, The ASSURE model was developed by Heinrich and Molenda in 1999. It is a well-known instructional design guide using constructivist perspective which integrates multimedia and technology to enhance the learning environment (Patrick Lefebvre 2006).
According to the ASSURE Model of Instructional Design, the designer should follow the following important criteria:
(1).Analysis: The audience should be studied prior to the conception of the design. Learners’ skills, prior knowledge, attitude, age, grade and learning style must be taken into consideration. According to Hap Aziz, “In order to select the best media and technology for the delivery of instructional content, it is essential to identify and analyze the audience”. (Hap Aziz, OIT. 1999).
(2).Statement of the Objectives: The lesson objectives must be clear and sound. The instructor must state what the learner will achieve in the end. The most important objective can be summarized as follows: objective about intended audience, their learning behavior, learning conditions such as equipments, maps, dictionaries, note taking and the degree of proficiency of a learner to be eligible to continue further. Statement of the objective also involves systematic planning and procedure (Daniel Callison 2002). The instructor should be able to observe students behavior as a result of the model. This is very important for further evaluation of the model. According to Gagne, “It is necessary to translate the needs and goals into objectives that are sufficiently specific to guide the instructor in teaching and the learner in studying” Gagne, R. M. Briggs, L. J, & Wager, W.W. (1992).
(3). Selection of Media: Relevant media and content materials such as sound, graphics, text animations and videos must be selected for effective learning outcomes. “As we know, instructional technology the convergence of computer and communications technology within the realm of teaching and learning has already had profound effects on education at all levels.” (Philip H. Swain 2003)
The duty of the instructor is to bridge the new technology with the existing materials. Instructors must understand how technology is used to educate learners. Because of the exciting attributes of technology the question of what to teach and how to teach must be addressed (Judith J. Lambrecht 1999).
(4). Utilization of materials: The instructor must make the lessons interesting by choosing appropriate materials to be used by the learners. Even the room/classroom conditions and equipments, lights and facilities must be appropriately suitable for learning conditions.
(5). Require Learners Performance: Instructor should provide ample opportunity for the students to practice the lesson and must be given adequate feedbacks for improvements. The lesson should include a variety of meaningful activities for the students to participate in problem solving and critical thinking. This will allow the learner to communicate with the teacher and receive valuable feedback.
(6). Evaluation: Evaluating the entire lessons is very crucial for further improvements. Instructor must evaluate to see whether his/her objectives are achieved. Before presenting the lessons again, appropriate revision and correction must be done.
Based on the explanation above, we can conclude that there are six steps that we have to do if we want to use ASSURE model for audio in learning process, they are:
1. Analyze learners
2. State standards and objectives
3. Select Strategies, Technology, Media, and Materials
4. Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials
5. Require Learner Participation
6. Evaluate and Revise
Thank you
I am Nurti Ningsih, I would like to answer the third question that is how to use the ASSURE mode of audio in learning.
There are six part of using ASSURE mode for audio in leaning.
Analyze Learners, the first identifying your students’ unique attributes and learning characteristics. And then you will determine their various levels of experience with using audio.
State Objectives, Before stating specific objectives, you may wish to explore how to use audio in support of student learning. Sometimes it is more appropriate to state specific objectives after you have identified the direction you will take with the content and what materials you will use.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials, Use the information on audio discussed in this chapter as the basis for selecting, modifying, or designing your materials. Adjust the specific applications to suit the specific nature of your topic and objectives.
Utilize Media and Materials, Follow the suggestions discussed in this chapter to facilitate your students’ learning, modifying each of the materials you USe to fit your needs, The audio equipment and source materials you have access to, as well as its location, will determine how you schedule your students’ learning experiences, as discussed in the chapter.
Require Learner Participation, Introduce and explain the audio involved in your specific objective.
Evaluate and Revise, It is important to consider how materials that rely on audio help students to interpret information.
May be there is missunderstanding or make it clear about your example sri utami, there is no one person unconcious can hear conversation.
You are welcome guys, thanks for all of your comments..

Thanks for the material from group 6th, i will answer question number 1 that " what is hearing-listening process ?".
Hearing and listening have quite different meanings.the main difference between hearing and listening is, while hearing only refers to your ears picking up noise, listening means to interpret the noise, understand it and provide an adequate response to it. Listening also uses other sense in order to be receptive to the other person’s body language
My name is Wahyuningsi, i'll going to answer the third question, based on the article That I have red, use the ASSURE mode for Audio in learning process,The first step in the process is that the teacher should analyze the attributes of her learners. There should be a focus on those learner characteristics which are associated with the learning outcomes desired. The information gathered will help you in the decisions that you make with respect to the other steps in the process. After the analysis of the learner attributes, the teacher must state standards and objectives for the learning module. This statement consists of a specification of what the learners will be able to do as a result of the instruction.
To be more concrete about things, this statement will focus on what the learner will know or be able to do as a result of the instruction. The second “s” in the acronym stands for select strategies, technology, media, and materials. Given what your learning objectives are, it’s necessary to pick instructional strategies, technology, and media that will bring about the results that you want,This step in the ASSURE process concerns making a plan as to how you will utilize the technology, media, and materials that you have selected. As with all of the instructional steps, you must make sure that your plans contribute towards producing the objectives that you have laid down,The most basic step that you can take is requiring participation of the students in class discussions. A more sophisticated approach would require that students prepare questions and comments at home to bring into the class. You might try even allowing individual students to lead classes or discussions in the style of a seminar,Anda the last is you evaluate the impact of your teaching on student learning. This includes an evaluation of your teaching strategies and the technology, media, and materials that you used.

Well, I will try to answer question number 2
A speech impairment is a condition in which the ability to produce speech sounds that are necessary to communicate with others is impaired. Speech impairments can be mild, such as occasionally mispronouncing a couple of words, to severe, such as not being able to produce speech sounds at all.
We rely on speech as one of the primary methods of communicating with others. An impairment in speech can significantly impact our ability to communicate. Speech impairments in childhood can have a negative influence on social development. Speech impairments at all stages of life can lead to social isolation, embarrassment, and shame.
Wahhh... Simple but very good..
Nice answer sist. I get your point.hearing and listening different.I conclude your answer hearing is through ears and listening through mind and ears. So, is there a relation between hearing and listening? if there is relation please give explanation.
Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
I'm Fithra Khaeriah from PBI 4 and I would like to answer the third question, that is how to use ASSURE model in learning process ? Based on the explanation of the sixth group and the e-book : " Instruction technology and media for learning" that I have read, there are several steps in using ASSURE model for learning process, that are :
1. Analyze learners, the first step that we have to do is analyze our students by identifying their learning characteristics.
2. State objectives, before stating specific objective, we may wish to explore how to use audio in support of student learning. Sometimes it is more appropriate to state specific objectives after we have identified the direction we will take with the content and what materials we will use.
3. Select methods, media, and materials. In selecting audio materials to use in our instruction, first consult with our school media specialist to determine what is available at our media center.
4. Utilitize media, and materials. The audio equipment and source materials we have access to, as well as its location, will determine how we schedule our students' learning experiences.
5. Requite learner participation. Introduce and explain the audio involved in our specific objective. Have the students do specific activities that rely on their ability to use audio. students will find more value in their materials if they are able to connect what they are doing to what they are learning.
6. Evaluate and revise. In this step, we evaluate the actual effectiveness of the materials and revise the materials after we have determined how well they have worked.
Oke, thanks for the question.., I think there are among the interference that can be minimized, for example a cleft lip can be repaired by surgery

May be all of us often hear some statementnya that, “Hearing is through ears, but listening is through the mind.” The two activities hearing and listening involve the use of ears, but they are different.
Thank you. I hope this answer can help you to understand more.
Thx for your nice explanation brother Riyan..

From the three questions above, let me answer the last or the third one. It is about how to use the ASSURE MODE for AUDIO in learning process.
As we have known, ASSURE mode is completely focus on the students' or learners' need to provide materials, method, technique and everything about learning. When we want to convey a learning process in AUDIO using ASSURE mode, there are six steps which become the main focus, they are :
1. Analyze Learners' Characteristics :
This point means as a teacher we have to know and understand who our peer, what they need, their learning style, their cleverness and competence in listening. Not only about the learners but also the place where we held the learning process. How fine the learning situation and condition is. Because all of the factors above are influent the audio learning process.
2. State Standard and Objectives :
The students' listening competence become the reference to state the standard and objectives. It shouldn't more or less than students competence.
3. Select Strategy, Technology, Media and Materials :
The strategy, technology, media and materials which we select in listening must be appropriate with what students need. It should be new, easy, interesting, proper and suitable to use.
4. Utilize Strategy, Technology, Media and Materials :
We have to pay attention at the usefullness of the instruments (strategy, media and materials) which we use in listening.
5. Require Learner Participation :
It is the very important thing that we have pay attention to. How come a learning process run well if there is no participation of the learners in it? In audio learning, we can pull their interest with some good audio materials. Sometimes it is depend on the teacher teaching technique.
6. Evaluate and Revise
After doing audio learning it is important to evaluate and revise. We evaluate not only the students knowledge and competence but also our strategy, media, and materials. If there is something wrong or inappropriate with the students' competence, revise it.
So there will always something new and never be boring.
That is from me. Thank you very much.

Thank you, I will answer question number 3 about How to use the ASSURE mode for audio in learning process?
According to Smaldino, al. (2005:49) the ASSURE is one that could guide the learner systematically to plan the learning process effectively. The model ASSURE the implementation of the combine the use of technology and media in the class. So by doing planning in a systematic, can help solve the problem and help facilitate to convey of learning, because the learning process it is a process that is complex and is a system that needs to be done with a systematic approach.
A = Analyze learner characteristic (analyze the characteristics of learning).
According to Anitah (2009 : 210) the first is identifying characteristics learning. Smaldino, al. (2005 : 49) said that the media and technology is said to be effective if there is compatibility between the characteristics of learning with the method, the media, and learning materials. In practice the teacher is not possible to analyze each individual learning. Therefore, Anitah (2009 : 210) said there are several factors that is important to consider in making decisions about the use of methods and the media, namely :.
a. The characteristic of the public
The characteristic of the public include the factors of age, level of education, work - the position, cultural and social economy. With the analysis students will help the selection of methods and medium of learning.
For example, students the weak in the skills of reading, it is more appropriate given the media for the print. If students less interested in the material that is presented, then appropriate media for example videotape, the simulation, or activities that are based on technology.
If students the first time learning a new concept, it takes a learning experience direct and concrete as field trip or exercise playing a role (Due to the cone of experience, Edgar Dale).
b.Ability
It is suggested for teachers to do ferifikasi about the ability of the students in an informal (As the interview or questions in class), or formally (As the test terstandar or tests made by teacher). It the early start is a judgment, both formal and informal,it can choose a method and media.
c.Learning Style
The study regarding the classification of the psychological to determine how an individual in interacting with, and respond emotionally in learning environment. And (1999) in Anitah (2009 : 211) said three different styles of learning someone, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
The Gardner imply that an effective teacher needs to be aware of the students style in between the learning. The best of ways to overcome that, by providing a variety of learning. Teacher, designing the curriculum, and specialist media should cooperate with designing the curriculum so students have a chance to develop a distinct change of the variable that's the style of learning can be categorized into four groups, and that is the power of perception, a habit of processing information, the motivating factors, and factors.
d. The power of perception
Students are very varied in the use of sensory perception which includes auditory, visual, tactile and kinesthetic.
Proponents of the importance of variables is to say that most students don't have enough power to capture lessons through the hearing, and saw the vastness of the use of the method of teacher. It is said that students who's learning tend to like experience, sit down and listen hard for them.

I'm Sulasri Ardiyanti. S from PBI 4 and i would like to answer the question number 3, that is how to use ASSURE model in learning process ? Based on the https://elearningindustry.com/6-tips-apply-assure-model-blended-learning, the ASSURE model gets its name from the following six stages involved in the process:
A = Analyze learners.
Identify your learners’ expectations, goals, preferences, and needs, so that you can create a blended learning strategy that offers them real world benefits.
S = State goals and objectives.
Determine the objectives for your blended learning course, including performance goals. These goals and objectives should clearly state what the learner will be able to do once they complete the class.
S = Select methods and media.
Choose online learning content, multimedia, both online and classroom exercises and materials that will serve your training goals and objectives. This may also pertain to modifying current training content in order to meet the changing needs of your audience.
U = Utilize media and technology.
After choosing the online training content and materials, eLearning professionals must then decide how they are going to utilize these tech tools and online resources most effectively.
R = Require learner participation.
Determine how you can engage learners to encourage them to actively participate in the blended training experience.
E = Evaluate and revise the blended learning strategy.
All eLearning strategies are a work in progress, due to the fact that technology and learner needs are always evolving. Thus, the final step in the ASSURE model is to evaluate and revise your blended learning strategy to ensure that it is as beneficial as possible.

Hallo Ms. Nurfadilah Yunus, maybe it is Ms. Haera's part but I would like to answer your question here :D
So the relation between hearing and listening in our subject "Technology Learning"
I personally think, of course listening and hearing are different things. But when we come to our subject I'd like to say it is just listening there. There is not related to hearing anymore. Why? Because as we know our subject is talking about the use of technology in learning process, we can use and understand technology well not by hearing but if we have a good listening ability.
There is no hearing ability and I never hear or know about that, there is just Listening ability. So I say there is no relation between hearing and listening in Technology Learning.
Thank you so much :)

Well, thank you for the material. I would like to answer the first question about hearing and listening.
I agree with the explanation above about the difference of hearing and listening. The presenters have stated that hearing is a process in which sound waves entering outer ear to the brain, meanwhile process of listening begins with someone’s awareness of and attention to sounds or speech patterns (receiving), proceeds trough identification and recognition of specific auditory signals (decoding), and ends in comprehension (understanding).
And for the addition that I got from another source, hearing is an ability to perceive sounds, by receiving vibrations through ears. It occurs at subconscious level. Meanwhile, listening is something done consciously, that involve the analysis and understanding of the sounds you hear. It involves an interpretation of the message received by ears and it requires concentration.
That's from me. Thank you.
I would like to answer the third question, that is about how to use ASSURE model for audio in learning process?
1. Analyze learners
It is essential to identify and analyze the characteristics of intended learners in order to select the best media and technology for delivery of instructional content. Key areas to consider in first analysis step are:
-General characteristics of he learners (e.g: age, grade level, gender, ethnicity, attitudes, or interesting). It's important to make the appropriate materials based on the general characteristics of the learners
-entry competencies (e.g: prior knowledge)
-learning style ( in this case, the learner whose her/his learning style is auditory definitely get advantages by using audio as a media.
2. State Objectives
Learning objective is a statement of what the learner will know, achieve, or be able to do as a result of learning process. Keep in mind that these statements will be the basis for assessment and will be the basis for student learning expectations. Beginning the learning process by asking ourself what specific outcome(s) our lesson will focus on. Uses as many as learning objectives statements as needed to describe what we wish our students to achieve as a result of the instruction.
3. Select Method, Media, and Materials. In the slecting audio material to use in our instruction, first we need to determine what kind of audio materials is available and unavailable.
4. Utilize Media and Materials.
we should describe in detail how will implement media and materials in our lesson to help our learners meet the stated learning objectives. There are five P steps here:
a. preview the instructional materials before using them.
b. prepare and properly sequence the instructional materials. In other words, make sure we have everything we need and that it all work.
c. Prepare the environmenet so that the materials can be used without difficulty.
d. prepare the learner so that they are ready to engage in the learning process.
e. Provide the learning experience through making an insteresting materials.
4. Require Learner Participation.
The goal here is for active learning to occur! Hence, all of our planned activities should provide opportunities for learner to practice the new knowledge or skills and to receive feedback on their efforts before being formally assessed.
6. Evaluate and Revise.
In this step we evaluate the actual effetiveness of the lesson. We may want to ask ourself the following question during this step in ASSURE process:
-How will we determine whether or not students achieved the learning objectives?
-Are our assessment strategies properly aligned with our learning objectives?
-Can this lesson be improved? How so?
-How will we determine the effectiveness of audio as a media in transferring the materials?
-Are there other media or materials that may have worked better?
we may also want to ask our student to reflect on their learning experiences and have them provide us feedback. How will we determine whether or not our own performance was effective?
Once we have completed the evaluation process we will want to make the appropriate revisions before presenting the lesson again.

Hallo Ms. Tri Wulandari
I would like to give an addition.
Why in Indonesia hearing and listening become a same thing? I agree with Ms. Tami that culture is the main cause of this problem, and I would like to answer in two parts.
1.Indonesian (The society)
In my point of view, even some people in common society may know the different between hearing and listening, we cant deny that some others are not. So when they communicate they just use one term and it become the acceptable term in the society. Besides, they like the most simple way to communicate, if it understanable, they use it, no need to think the other term.
2. The Students
Where are the students from? Society. We as student, we learn, we know, we share. So when we have understood about the two terms it is good for us to make the other people know by sharing and hope it will become our (students) culture.

I'm Muthemainnah from PBI 4 and i will answer question number 1 about " what is hearing-listening process ?".
Hearing is and action in which a sound is perceived by the ear. Very little or no effort is required as your mind may be occupied with other thoughts or perphaps we are engaged in a different task while the other person is sharing his or her thoughts with you. This is an active process.
And Listening is an action in which we choose to actively concentrate on what hear. We need to put in a lot more effort in terms of attention, processing, thinking, and analysing. We do not think about anything else,or get engaged in any other tasks, but instead sit down and listen to what the speaker is saying. We notice the feeling and meaning of what is being said. This is an active process.
Thank you, Wassalamualaikum Wr.Wb

First i apologize for my lateness to join this disscussion, i am really happy that today we disscuss about the media of learning by using the technology expecially in audio because i really want to know that well. And I say thanks to the presenter of this group for their material that make understand much about the audio expecially the different of hearing and listening. Ok, according to Miss Wulan Question about the meaning of pretending, in my point of view, the term pretending have the same meaning with those two another term (receiving and understanding). I mean, when there are some terms or words that explain one object, basically they have same meaning. In this case the meaning of pretending same with receiving and understanding, it was memahai or mengerti in Indonesia. Thank u!
Again, about miss Wulan Question, this time about the meaning of resolve. My analisys in this term (resolve) is the very simple, as we know that, this term is the last step of the listenings steps, so i conclude that, this term is something like the decision after we do listening process. I mean, after you listen something, you can take it or leave it. And because we talking about listening and we know that it related with concious process, and i think this term (resolve) is related with concious process. And addition, the meaning of resolve in Indonesia is memutuskan (terima atau tidak). Thank u!
explanation from Miss Tami about Miss Wulan question (listening and hearing become the same thing ), but in my point of view, the hearing and the listening is very different even in Indonesia meaning. Hearing in indonesia is mendengar (unconcious) and listening in Indonesia is Mendengarkan or menyimak (concious). So there is no factor that make hearing and listening become same thing because basically they are different by the beginning. Thank you.
Miss Wulan question again. In this time the question about the concious. She confuse about hearing a conversation, is that concious or unconcious? I think this question is already answered if we read and understand the paper above. I mean, if you hear or listen a conversation and you pay attention well about the conversation, it’s mean that you are listening, if not you are hearing.
Thank u

Good evening guys, I would like to answer number 2.
Speech disorders or speech impediments are a type of communication disorder where 'normal' speech is disrupted. This can mean stuttering, lisps, etc. Someone who is unable to speak due to a speech disorder is considered mute.
Thanks.
welcome to join mr. aqil, thats a great answer I think.

and thanks to ms. dilla and mr aqil for your addition.
okay ms. dilla that a good explanation and thanks for ur answer.

I am Nurhikmawati Mus.
Firstly, let me to say thanks to the assigning group for giving us a new knowledge from the previous excellent explanation. Well, let me to answer the second number. Based on some references that I have read, speech impairment is the condition when a person is unable to produce speech sounds correctly or fluently, or has problems with his or her voice, then he or she has a speech disorder. Difficulties pronouncing sounds, or articulation disorders, and stuttering are examples of speech disorders.
As an addition from Journal of Visual Impairment, it has been stated that Teachers of students of visual impairments in Kentucky were surveyed to identify the current assistive technologies their students were using and to identify the teachers' possible unmet training needs. Although the teachers had access to and used computer-based technologies, they lacked the training and support for teaching specific technologies to their students, so only half their students used these technologies./blockquote>Over the past decade, advances in technology have provided new opportunities for people who are visually impaired (that is, are blind or have low vision) to be independent at work, school, and home. These advances have allowed them to compete successfully with sighted people and to have equal access to printed information (Kurzweil, 1997). Optical scanners; closed-circuit television systems (CCTVs); optical magnifiers; note-taking devices; and technologies that produce large print, braille, or speech are examples of technologies that enable individuals who are visually impaired to write and edit papers, conduct research, gain access to information, and develop job skills.
That's all a little explanation about impired speech student and teacher that I'd taken from some sources. I do apologize if I make some mistakes. I hope this can be useful for all.
Thank you.

Thank very much for your great information guys, I would like to answer the third number, the question is about how to use the ASSURE mode for audio in learning process? According to me after I read the material that you have share to us, the first step that we can use for ASSURE mode for audio in learning process is Analyze Learners, Lesson development begins by identifying your students’ unique attributes and learning characteristics. The second steps is State Objectives, Before stating specific objectives, you may wish to explore how to use audio in support of student learning. The third steps is we have to select methods, media and material that we want to use, after we select the media and materials we can utilize that, the last step is evaluate and revise, It is important to consider how materials that rely on audio help students to interpret information.

thanks for your nice explaination guys, i would like to answer the first question, about hearing and listening, that listening is one step ahead of the hearing. The hearing is simply the ability to hear, i.e. natural or God-given however, listening is an acquired skill, which only a few people possess. While the hearing is involuntary and performed effortlessly, listening is done intentionally, wherein we are selective and pay attention to only those messages, we think important for us.
My name is Muchammad Ichwan RH,I am PBI 3. I would like to answer the question Number 1 that asks about hearing and listening. According to Website of University of Minnesota Duluth, Hearing is simply the act of perceiving sound by the ear. If you are not hearing-impaired, hearing simply happens. Listening, however, is something you consciously choose to do. Listening requires concentration so that your brain processes meaning from words and sentences.
My name is Muchammad Ichwan RH, I am PBI 3, I going to answer the question 2 .in my point of view, Speech impaired students have difficulty to speak correctly so that the teachers have responsibility to provide a good way to teach them.
Various communication aids are available for students who cannot speak. Students who are able to type may use portable electronic aids that produce computer printouts, display words on LED screens, or have synthesized audio output.
Educators should create an environment of acceptance and understanding in the classroom, and encourage peers to accept the student with speech impairment. Practice and maintain easy and effective communication skills by modeling good listening skills and by facilitating participation of all students in classroom discussions and activities. If a student requires a sign language interpreter or the use of augmentative communication, provide adequate space and time to accommodate these forms of communication.
What a great explanation. You exactly explain about what ASSURE model is. In my opinion, it will be very good if you explain the model by what the the implementation is to audio model, not the ASSURE model in common. Thanks in advance.
That is a great explanation. It will be very good if you connect your explanation to audio model in related cases. Thank you
I'm Rifky Nuriansyah from PBI 4. What a nice topic to be discussed. Let me try to answer the first question. In my mind, hearing and listening involve the use of ears, but they are different. In hearing, we just sense the sound waves and noise by ears, but in listening, we receive the sound waves and we understand it by paying attention to the words and sentences from the speaker.
How hearing works:
1. Sound funnels into the ear canal and causes the eardrum to move.
2. The eardrum vibrates with sound.
3. Sound vibrations move through the ossicles to the cochlea.
4. Sound vibrations cause the fluid in the cochlea to move.
5. Fluid movement causes the hair cells to bend. Hair cells create neural signals which are picked up by the auditory nerve. Hair cells at one end of the cochlea send low pitch sound information and hair cells at the other end send high pitch sound information.
6. The auditory nerve sends signals to the brain where they are interpreted as sounds.
While the listening process is not only up to the stages where the sound waves reach our brains. Listening process has more addition stages, there are:
1. Attending, in this stage, we are actually gathering the words and sentences in our brain to be used in the next stage.
2. Interpreting, in this stage, we begin to make meaning of the words and sentences.
3. Responding, In most cases, the responding stage will follow. This is where you take the meaningful message and react to it by sending your own message or response, changing your behavior or even making a non-verbal gesture.
4. Remembering, in this stage, remembering takes place and involves storing the information for use at a later time.
Thank You.

Let me try to answer your question. If speech impairments happen in our environment and we as a candidate of teacher, the first thing that we should do is always motivate them. So, when they have been motivated they will try to practice speaking well. And if the speech impairment is severe, maybe you can see brother Muchammad Ichwan's answer. Thanks in advance.

Still talk the article about "AUDIO", after I answered the first question in the previous comment, now let me answer for twice with the different question. I'm interesting to answer the 3rd question which ask "How to use the ASSURE mode for Audio in learning process? "
Well, I would like to cover my answer by looking at the steps of ASSURE. They are...
For the first step is Analyze learners: as the candidate of teacher, we should analyze our students by identifying their learning characteristics.
For the second step is state objectives: before stating specific objective, we have to find out the way of how to use audio in support of student learning. It is very important.
For the third step is select methods, media, and materials: after know how to use audio, then select audio materials to use by consult with the school media.
For the fourth step is utilitize media and materials: The audio equipment and source materials we have access to, as well as its location, will determine how we schedule our students' learning experiences.
For the fifth step is Require learner participation: not only introduce but also explain the audio involved in your specific objective.
For the sixth as the last step is evaluate and Revise: we evaluate the materials that are materials useful and effectiveness to student? Don't forget to revise the materials .
Finally, that's all from me. Thankyou for sharing this useful article.
I follow this answer:)
Well, I do apologize to Tri Wulandari because I am late to answer your question.
Resolve in the listening process means that it is like response/comment as result of listening.
Thank you
Well, thanks for mr.Ikram's answer. if there is a teacher cannot teach well but the teacher is qualified higher than most teacher.
What will you do/what do you think?
Thank you
Well, thanks for nice explanation.
This is probably my personal prblem in comprhending what hearing and listening are.
I think both listening and hearing will result a same thing such as understanding or misunderstanding even we try to pay attention or we dont pay attention to the speaker or interlocutor.
What do you think about that??

Thanks for the information about AUDIO that is very interesting expkanation. I go with your discussion and our friends answer.now let me to answer question that is : what is the hearing-listening process?
Hearing is through ears, it means hearing is when you experience the sound waves and noise by ears. And lustening is through the mind, it means when you receive the sound waves and understand it by paying full attention to the words and sentences of the speaker what is it. Beside that, hearing is ability but listening is a skill, nature: hearing is primary and continous but listening is secondary and temporary, hearing involve receipt of message through ears and listening involve interpretation of the message received by ears, process of hearing is passive bodily and listening process is active mental process , the last is hearing accurs at subsconcious level and listening accurs at concious level.
That's all my answer, thank you.

Firstly, I want to say thanks for this nice information. What a good information.
Now, let !et me answer the quesion number 1
Hearing defines only the physical measurement of the sound waves that are transmitted to the ear and into the brain where they are processed into audible information. Hearing occurs with or without your consent. The National Youth Council says hearing is such a passive quality, it occurs even while you sleep. When you merely hear someone’s words but are not listening to what's being said, it can lead to misunderstandings, missed opportunities and resentments.
Listening goes far beyond your natural hearing process. It means paying attention to the words that are being spoken with the intention of understanding the other person. Your personal perceptions and prejudices can affect the quality of your listening skills. For example, if you feel your are better off (financially, intellectually, socially) than the person you are listening to, you may dismiss much of what she is saying because of your perceived superiority.
That's my answer thank you :)
